inFAMOUS Trophy Guide

6 04 2010

One of my favorite games of last year was undoubtedly inFamous, heck it even made my annual Game of The Year post. Therefore I was happy to hear the recent news that inFamous is becoming one of the PlayStation 3 Greatest Hit’s titles. This will ensure a larger audience will be able to experience this refreshing title. So due to that larger audience it’s safe to assume more people will begin their quest for that ever elusive platinum trophy. For that reason I figured now is as good as a time as ever to write up a trophy guide for those that may need help on that journey. If you have any tips or recommendations for others then feel free to share those below. Otherwise get out there and start hunting…

inFamous Platinum (Platinum): Collect all other inFamous trophies

  • Earn all Bronze, Silver, and Gold Trophies in inFamous

Good Finish (Silver): Beat the game as a Hero

  • To successfully obtain the Platinum trophy you will need to complete two separate playthroughs. You must play one being strictly good and the other being strictly evil. Therefore to obtain this trophy just choose all of the good karma options throughout the game and by the time you beat the game you should be at the Hero rank.

Evil Finish (Silver): Beat the game while InFamous

  • To successfully obtain the Platinum trophy you will need to complete two separate playthroughs. You must play one being strictly good and the other being strictly evil. Therefore to obtain this trophy just choose all of the evil karma options throughout the game and by the time you beat the game you should be at the inFamous rank.

Hard Finish (Gold): Finish story mode on hard, without changing the difficulty setting

  • As I said previously you need to complete two separate playthroughs for the Platinum trophy one of those needs to be a playthrough on Hard. I personally did this on my second evil playthrough however either can be done and I have heard benefits to both. However in my opinion the evil playthrough is easier since your powers are stronger and more destructive when evil. In order to set the game mode to hard you must do so before the first mission via the game options screen after pressing start.

Community Organizer (Silver): Take over all territory in the Neon District

  • Simply complete all of the corresponding evil or good (depending on what you choose) main missions as well as all of the side missions which are located on the map by an exclamation point inside a circle. If you have completed all of the side missions on the map and still have not gotten 100% then simply go to that area and kill some of the enemies to get the ‘Hidden Package’ mission which is considered a side mission. Once you reach 100% in the Neon District you will be awarded this trophy.

Civic Leader (Silver): Take over all territory in the Warren

  • Simply complete all of the corresponding evil or good (depending on what you choose) main missions as well as all of the side missions which are located on the map by an exclamation point inside a circle. If you have completed all of the side missions on the map and still have not gotten 100% then simply go to that area and kill some of the enemies to get the ‘Hidden Package’ mission which is considered a side mission. Once you reach 100% in the Warren District you will be awarded this trophy.

Urban Designer (Silver): Take over all territory in the Historic District

  • Simply complete all of the corresponding evil or good (depending on what you choose) main missions as well as all of the side missions which are located on the map by an exclamation point inside a circle. If you have completed all of the side missions on the map and still have not gotten 100% then simply go to that area and kill some of the enemies to get the ‘Hidden Package’ mission which is considered a side mission. Once you reach 100% in the Historic District you will be awarded this trophy.

Just Scratched the Surface (Bronze): Collect all Dead Drops in the Neon District

  • These drops can be acquired by pressing the R3 button and then following the gray ring to the satellite dish which are usually located on top or near the top of buildings. The dish will give off a beeping noise as you get near simply press the triangle button to collect the drop and get an audio log detailing more of the story. After you collect all 13 in the Neon District you will be rewarded with this trophy. If you need help a map of these locations can be found here.

Further Down the Rabbit Hole (Bronze): Collect all Dead Drops in the Warren

  • These drops can be acquired by pressing the R3 button and then following the gray ring to the satellite dish which are usually located on top or near the top of buildings. The dish will give off a beeping noise as you get near simply press the triangle button to collect the drop and get an audio log detailing more of the story. After you collect all 14 in the Warren District you will be rewarded with this trophy. If you need help a map of these locations can be found here.

You’re so Sly (Bronze): Collect all Dead Drops in the Historic District

  • These drops can be acquired by pressing the R3 button and then following the gray ring to the satellite dish which are usually located on top or near the top of buildings. The dish will give off a beeping noise as you get near simply press the triangle button to collect the drop and get an audio log detailing more of the story. After you collect all 5 in the Historic District you will be rewarded with this trophy. If you need help a map of these locations can be found here.

Junior Geologist (Bronze): Find 25% of the Shards

  • See ‘Rockhound’

Member of the Mineral Club (Bronze): Find 50% of the Shards

  • See ‘Rockhound’

Rockhound (Bronze): Find 100% of the Shards

  • First off I suggest you follow a map for this task as it is extremely tedious to find all 350 shards after the fact. Also for that reason I suggest you obtain all of the shards on a specific island before advancing to the next island that way you know you won’t have to back track. This is not to say it can’t be done without it since that is what I did it’s just very time consuming. To locate these shards on your map you can press L3 which will show shards on the mini map as blue dots but be careful as some of these dots will blend in well with the environment or not show up at all if they are too far up or below your position. There are 350 shards on all of the islands and their locations can be found on this map here.

Frequent Flyer (Bronze): Travel 5 kilometers using Static Thrusters.

  • This ability will unlock fairly early in the game and is a move that you will use fairly often in the game. Therefore you should receive this trophy just by playing through the game however if not simply jump off any structure and hold X as much as long as possible to achieve this trophy.

Hotfoot (Bronze): Travel 25 kilometers while riding the rails.

  • To be able to ride the rails you most first restore power to the entire island thus granting you the ability to ‘grind’ on the rails. Again this trophy will most likely unlock by just playing through the game if you use the tracks as a mode of transportation, if not then jump on the tracks for a few laps and the trophy will be yours.

Electric Hobo (Bronze): Ride the train for 2 kilometers.

  • This is another fairly easy trophy that usually will unlock by playing through the game. Most of the distance will be covered during the train missions but if you have yet to receive this trophy then just jump on the moving train for a few minutes and the trophy is yours.

Evil to the Core (Silver): Purchase every negative Karma upgrade for each power.

  • This obviously should be done on your evil play though just be sure to complete all of the evil side missions which will give you enough XP to purchase all of the evil upgrades. You do NOT have to purchase any of the neutral upgrades like damage resistance or higher melee damage as those should probably be avoided anyways.

True Hero (Silver): Purchase every positive Karma upgrade for each power.

  • Like above this should be done on your good playthrough and again be sure to complete all of the positive karma side missions which will easily give you enough XP to purchase every positive karma upgrade. This does NOT include any of the neutral upgrades like damage resistance or higher melee damage as those should probably be avoided anyways.

Casey Jones (Bronze): Take down 25 enemies while riding on a moving train.

  • This one can be a pain however I will offer you some tips. First off you want to try to kill as many enemies as possible while doing the various train missions as the train will be moving much slower and the enemies will be at your level. These missions can be farmed to an extent if you just want to finish the trophy, meaning after you kill any enemies and you die and restart the kill count does NOT reset so as you kill more enemies it will add to your previous total. This can be done until the trophy is completed however if you have past these missions already you can alternatively just ride the train spamming grenades and the megawatt hammer at enemies until you achieve this trophy.

Road Kill (Bronze): Take down 25 enemies while riding on the roof of a moving vehicle.

  • You will want to do this during the main story mission where you escort an electrified bus called “Anything for Trish”. Since you have unlimited energy you can just again spam grenades and the megawatt hammer at your enemies until you achieve this trophy. You can also take advantage of the fact that the kill count does NOT reset and is cumulative. If you have already past this mission then you can simply jump on any moving vehicle and start killing any and all enemies by any means possible.

Drop Everything (Bronze): Thunder Drop for a total distance of at least 500 meters.

  • To Thunder Drop you jump and then hold square while in mid air. You obtain this ability early in the game and this trophy should be achieved through regular progression of the game. However if not then simply climb the tallest building around and Thunder Drop off of it a few times to finish this trophy off.

AC/DC (Bronze): Drain 750 megawatts of power from Empire City.

  • Another trophy that will unlock through regular progression of the game. As a tip you can shoot generators to power them up which takes no energy then drain that electricity from that device. Also the generators in the sewers have infinite electricity to drain if you have the patience.

Get Off My Cloud (Bronze): Get 100 High Fall take downs.

  • To complete you will need to use your ‘Shockwave’ ability to knock enemies off of a high enough structure to achieve the “High Fall” take down, do this 100 times and you will achieve this trophy. A good location to complete this is when you are destroying the water towers on top of the buildings. However this can be done through regular progression of the game and you can also farm a certain area by killing yourself and restarting.

Red Baron (Bronze): Take down 100 enemies while they are airborne.

  • This is easier to accomplish during your good karma playthrough with the first upgrade of the shockwave since it will suspend the enemy in the air for a few seconds giving you plenty of time to zap them with your lightning bolt.

Fish in a Barrel (Bronze): Kill 50 enemies by using water

  • You will have many opportunities to kill enemies by using water however I found the easiest place is the sewers. While you are progressing through the sewers you will find many enemies in the water of the sewers simply shoot the water surrounding them killing them in the process, do this 50 times and the trophy is yours. Just like any of the kill trophies this can be farmed by killing yourself and restarting as the counter will NOT reset.

True Potential (Bronze): Purchase every upgrade for a single power

  • As you unlock powers you gain the ability to upgrade these powers which usually have three different tiers simply purchase all three upgrades for a certain power and the trophy is yours. If you are attempting the Platinum trophy then this trophy will NOT be a problem.

Oh, You’ve Done This Before (Bronze): Take down 50 enemies by sticking them with a grenade

  • One of the ways to dispose of enemies is by throwing sticky grenades if you get a direct hit on an enemy it will stick to them and they will be unable to get away. The aiming takes some repetition but after some practice it shouldn’t be a problem. Once you have successfully done this 50 times the trophy will be yours.

The Hunger (Bronze): Bio Leech 100 enemies

  • This should be done during your Evil play-through as Bio Leeching enemies will grant evil karma. When you go up to an injured enemy, anyone that is hostile towards you, you will have the option to either ‘Bio Leech’ or ‘Arc Restraint’ simply use ‘Bio Leech on every enemy and you should have this completed by the end of the game. If not then go about the islands and ‘Bio Leech’ every enemy you come across.

Doctor Cole (Bronze): Heal 250 pedestrians

  • This should be done during your Good playthrough as healing pedestrians will grant good karma. During your progression you will find pedestrians lying on the street who are wounded simply go up to them and heal them by pressing R1 and holding Triangle. A lot of civilians can be found around the medical clinics and during the main mission where you need to find the source of the tar. You can also heal enemies that you have injured during a battle or that you intentionally hurt. Do this 250 times and the trophy will unlock.

Goody Two Shoes (Silver): Reach full positive Karma

  • Like I stated earlier you will need two playthroughs, one good and one evil during this playthrough make sure to make all the good karma decisions like side missions, healing pedestrians, and capturing all enemies and you should easily have full positive karma by the end of the game which will unlock this trophy.

Truly InFamous (Silver): Reach full negative Karma

  • Like I stated earlier you will need two playthroughs, one good and one evil during this playthrough make sure to make all the evil karma decisions like side missions, leech everyone, kill pedestrians and you should easily have full negative karma by the end of the game which will unlock this trophy.

Good Eats (Bronze): Good guys feed the needy

Clean Up Your Act (Silver): Defeat Sasha

  • You fight Sasha at the end of the Neon District while it’s not difficult it may take a few tries. You will do the most damage during the short button mashing sequences by simply following the on screen instructions. However during the other parts she will teleport around the area while attacking you, do your best to stay out of the water while dodging her attacks and recharge as needed. A good method is to use grenades as you are moving which will eventually resort in her being crouched. As that happens go up to her for another sequence after this happens for three or four times she will go down.

Taking Out the Trash (Bronze): Defeat Alden

  • You will fight Alden at the end of the Warren District. When fighting Alden your main focus should be dodging his attacks by scrolling from side to side as you do that spam the Megawatt Hammer at his direction along with regular bolts using the electric circuits to recharge as needed. If successful he should go down fairly quickly.

Stunt Man (Bronze): Complete any one stunt from the stunt list

  • See ‘Stunt Master

Stunt Coordinator (Bronze): Complete 10 of the stunts on the stunt list

  • See ‘Stunt Master

Stunt Master (Silver): Complete all of the stunts on the stunt list

  • This trophy is unlocked by completing all of the 21 stunts on ONE playthrough which can be a pain. While some of these stunts are on the easier side some can be a complete pain. Therefore I again suggest you print out a guide and cross off the stunt as you perform it. While you can see your progress when you press the select button it does not show you which stunts you have performed and which you need but simply the amount you completed. The 21 stunts are as follows:
    1. Air Strike – Kill an enemy with Lightning Bolt while Cole is airborne.
You will probably get this without trying however if not then just jump while trying to zap an enemy with either your bolt or precision.
    2. Crush – Kill an enemy by crushing them with an object (Car, bike, dumpster, etc…)
Again one you will most likely get without trying simply use the shockwave ability to throw cars towards your enemies eventually you will get this.
    3. Sticky Bomb – Kill an enemy by sticking a shock grenade to them
If you are attempting the Platinum then you will need to kill multiple enemies this way. To do so simply throw a sticky grenade directly on an enemy, the aiming does take some practice to get right.
    4. Highfall – Kill an enemy by making them fall from a high place.
One of the easier ones, just use shockwave to push an enemy off of any high area. You will also need to do this multiple times if you are completing all of the other trophies.
    5. Enviro Take Down – Kill an enemy with environmental explosion
Kill an enemy by exploding an object around him, one of the easiest ways is by shooting a vehicle that an enemy is hiding behind. You can also throw a grenade or use any other power to cause the explosion.
    6. Blast & Bolt – Kill an airborne enemy with Lightning Bolt
Use the shockwave on an enemy and while they are airborne shoot away with either your regular bolt or precision bolt if you find that to be easier.
    7. Flying Head Shot – Head shot an airborne enemy
Similar to the above stunt but instead ensure that you shoot the enemy in the head while they are airborne.
    8. Ride The Lightning – Kill an enemy with Precision while rail grinding
Another fairly easy stunt once you are granted the ‘Induction Grind’ ability jump on a power line or train track until you find an enemy then use your precision bolt to kill them.
    9. Air Sticky Bomb – Kill an airborne enemy by sticking a grenade to them
Use the shockwave on an enemy and while they are airborne launch a bunch of grenades at his direction in hopes that one sticks.
    10. Flying Melee – Kill an airborne enemy with melee
Can be done multiple ways, I personally got it just by melee an enemy that was near the edge of a roof but can also be completed by using the shockwave on an enemy then as he is in the air perform a melee attack.
    11. Insult To Injury – Stick a grenade to an enemy, then kill them before it explodes
Although it sounds tough it was fairly easy, simply stick a grenade to an enemy then kill them before the grenade explodes. I had good luck doing this to the spiders as they usually only take one melee attack to kill.
    12. Whack A Mole – Kill a Conduit with Thunder Drop
When the Conduits perform their move to grow really big just shoot them until they shrink back down to normal size, at that time just jump up and perform a Thunder Drop near them which will result in their death.
    13. Suspended Sentence – Kill an airborne enemy with Thunder Storm
This is probably easiest on the same mission that you obtain this power as there will be lots of enemies coming after you. All you have to do is perform the shockwave to launch the enemy in the air then perform the Thunder Storm to kill them. This may take a few tries.
    14. Unquenchable Thirst – Transfer to 4 different grinds without touching anything
Rather easy just grind a rail or line and jump to another rail or line without touching anything else. An easy spot for this stunt is on the power lines connecting the Historic and Neon Districts.
    15. Melee Finisher – Kill an enemy with the last hit of a 5 hit melee combo
Find an enemy who has not been hurt at all and keep pressing square to perform a melee combo eventually killing them
    16. Premature Detonation – Kill an enemy by making a Kamikaze enemy explode near them
Just zap a courier when he’s near another enemy – you should easily get this by the end of the game
    17. Crowd Control – Kill 5 enemies at once
This can be done on any set of enemies using any of your attacks but I found it most successful to throw grenades into packs of enemies more specifically the spiders that often times chase you.
    18. Splash And Crash – While in the air, Shock an enemy and then hit the same enemy with the Thunder Drop move
This was one of the harder ones for me and the last one I had to perform. Just find an enemy directly below you while you are on a building then drop off and zap the enemy with your lightning then quickly hit square to perform a Thunder Drop onto that enemy. Took me several tries but I eventually got it.
    19. Up Close And Personal – Kill 3 enemies back to back with just the melee. Don’t fire in-between.
One of the easier stunts simply kill 5 enemies by melee ALL of them. I successfully completed this on the robot spiders that chase you.
    20. Right Back At You – Kill an enemy with his own grenade
This one was also a pain for me as I already completed the game before I paid much attention to the stunts. Find an enemy who is throwing grenades and use the Shockwave ability to launch back at him resulting in his death. The aiming takes some practice but you should be able to do it after a few tries. One of the spots where lots of grenade throwing enemies spawn is during the fight with Alden.
    21. Have A Nice Fall – Take down 3 enemies at once with one shockwave off a roof
Find three enemies on a roof and try corning them then simply let loose with the shockwave. There are several missions where you run into multiple enemies on the rooftop these are the easiest places to perform this stunt.

I am still shaping the format of these trophy guides and would appreciate any input you would be willing to offer. Is there something else you want included? Would you rather have the trophies categorized by type? Maybe you have a specific title you would like a guide to, whatever it is let me know via the comments below.

Nice guide – I loved Infamous, played it through good and evil. Such a good game, glad more people will get a chance to play it.
